Description: A frame contains a bar that is free to rotate in the horizontal plane. At one end of the bar is a fixed (counter)weight. At the other end, a trolley with the same mass is free to roll along the bar. The trolley is connected to a force probe, which measures the tension in the wire as the bar spins. The angular velocity of the bar is measured with a photogate. The tension in the wire and speed of the bar is displayed to the class.
