Description: A simple pendulum is set up on the lecture bench with one modification: a stopping bar is placed near the bottom of the pendulums motion. A meter stick is placed behind the pendulum to act as a reference line. The bob is held above the meter stick and released. When the pendulum string hits the stop bar, the length of the pendulum will be shorter, but the bob will return to its original height (save for a slight loss in energy when hitting the bar).
