PIRA Classification: 5E20.10
Description: A small tank, with two electrodes at the bottom, contains a dilute solution of NaOH (~5%). Test tubes, also filled with the solution, are inverted over the electrodes. When a small voltage (4-10 V) is applied across the electrodes, hydrogen and oxygen are produced. These gases are captured in the test tubes. A clear 2:1 ratio of hydrogen to oxygen is observed.
Special Instructions: Let run for a few minutes only.
Condition: Good
Setup time: 2 minutes
Safety Issues: Caution around the NaOH.
