PIRA Classification: 5G10.20

Description: A 6" strip of spring steel has been magnetized to make a "magnet". When the ends of the strip are brought near a large compass needle, the needle will either be attracted to, or repelled from, the end of the strip, showing it has opposite poles.  A pair of sheet metal cutters is then used to cut the magnetic strip into smaller pieces.  It can be demonstrated that each piece still has a north and south pole.

Special Instructions: None

Condition: Good

Safety Issues: The steel can have sharp edges after being cut.  Please take care.
