7B10.13 - Spectrum of Laser - Inside and Out

Spectrum of laser

PIRA Classification: 7B10.13

Description: Small squares of replica diffraction gratings are used to observe the spectrum of a laser with clear tube. The laser beam is reflected on a sheet of plastic so the light can be observed both inside and out. In the picture above, the spectrum of the tube is seen to the lower left and the laser spot seen above. Helium and neon discharge tubes are located directly below the laser. One can see that the spectra from the helium and neon tubes (combined) make the spectrum from the laser.

Special Instructions: None
